Susan has been at Leep1 since it began over 12 years ago. In that time, she has led and helped developed the service to be the vibrant organisation it is today. Susan loves sewing and embroidery as well as getting involved with campaigning for the rights of disabled people. Read more about her here.

Hazel joined us as Deputy Manager in September 2022. Before joining our team, she worked as a Universal Advocate for The Advonet Group in their Community Advocacy team.
Janine Blumler

Janine joined the team in October 2020 and organises and supports all aspects of the Leep1 service from digital sessions to cookery and art. With a background in pattern design she loves to share her passion for art with the members and bring out their creative sides. Janine also loves the great outdoors and takes our members out and about as much as possible. She’s full of fun and makes all of our sessions feel really supportive and inclusive for our members.

Kayley started her Leep1 journey as a volunteer in 2021 but she soon became a staff member a few months later. She is very popular with our members and offers all round support in all areas of our service, helping to take our members out and about, exercise and do the fun activities we have planned.

Ouahiba has been a long standing volunteer at Leep1 and has now secured the position of support worker alongside Janine. They both run the huge variety of sessions and activities that happen everyday at Leep1. Ouahiba is also an amazing chef and loves to cook us all her delicious food for our parties and gatherings.

Sapphire joined our Leep1 Facebook group during lockdown and has been a huge part of the group’s success. With lots of new and brilliant ideas, she has helped shape our activity timetable. Sapphire is also a Leep1 DJ and shares her love for music with other community groups such as Brackenwood Community Centre/ Cafe where she volunteers in her free time. Her kind and generous nature along with all her brilliant ideas means she is a true asset to the friendship group.

Angie joined Leep1 when the café opened in 2015. She has a vast amount of management and business experience and she has developed the café business to see it grow from strength to strength. Angie has a brilliant sense of fun and humour, and looks after all the trainees supporting them into work. She is also a fountain of knowledge when it comes to cooking and baking and is currently working on a new cookbook for people with learning disabilities.
Darren Nixon
Darren NixonAssistant Manager and NVQ Tutor
Darren joined Café Leep when it opened and his commitment and passion has helped it to be the success it is today. Darren’s kindness, calming nature and brilliant sense of humour has helped him become an award winning tutor who sees our trainees through their NVQ’s with flying colours. Darren is also a huge Indie music fan and his fun, colourful photos and social media posts cheer us all up as well as spread the important message about the work that we do.
