This post was written back in September 2021. Somehow a technical glitch meant it was never published publicly until now. So, hidden in the archives we share it with you now! Beckie still leaves many many memories for us all at Leep1 and it’s been great seeing her at club nights and active on the Leep1 online Group. We are pleased to report that she is doing really well and is happy in her new role as a teacher in Leeds.
We said a heartfelt goodbye to another member of staff at Leep1 last week. Rebecca Hainsworth (Beckie) our Deputy Manager has moved on to become a full time teacher which has always been her dream.
Beckie helped to give Leep1 it’s heart and soul and we will all miss her terribly. Leep1 really are like a family and when a staff member leaves us it has to be announced with care and compassion as our members build such a strong relationship with their support network. Beckie always brought boundless enegy, compassion and fun to everything we do and she will leave a huge hole in our office and in the hearts of everyone she worked with and supported.
Beckie joined the service 5 years ago as a support worker and soon worked her way up to become Deputy Manager. With many years of expereice of working with adults with learning disabilities already behind her, her incredible planning and organisational skills she made a huge difference to Leep1 as Deputy manager and it’s direction during her time with us.
She was passionate about supporting and caring for our members and a firm believer and dedicated promoter of self advocacy. Much of her time was spent supporting members to follow their own dreams and passions and making things happen.
One of Beckie’s personal joys was the weekly Friendship Group that she ran with Angie. After receiving some more funding to continue the group just recently this will certainly be one of the many successful legacies she leaves behind.
Beckie was also known to give up many of her weekends to take members on holiday and trips away. Festivals, theme parks and seaside visits were all on the agenda pre-covid and these will always be very fond memories for Leep1 and the members.
I have never met anyone so full of fun and energy. Beckie was a wonderful colleague and a real inspiration to me.

Beckie is definitely one of a kind, she has a heart of gold and would go out of her way for anyone. She was very popular amongst our members, they loved how engaging she was with everyone and how much fun they had when she was around.

On her last day Leep1 held one if it’s infamous parties. Due to Covid there were restricted numbers, but many members and staff who couldn’t attend in person joined via zoom to be part of the celebrations and farewells.
Each member won a special award from Beckie for their hard work and contributions. There was cake, confetti, singing, speeches, gifts and party games. There were tears, but lots of laughter too – Beckie had the most contagious laugh!
We wish her all the best for a bright and successful career in teaching and can’t wait to see her again at some of our events like the Club Nights. We are sure she will be popping in to see us at Cafe Leep too and are excited to catch up on all her news.
Good Luck and Best Wishes
Love from your
Leep1 Family
