Today, on Friday 19th November we want to join thousands of other projects across the UK that have been able to make great things happen with the help from money received from National Lottery players.
#Thankstoyou we’ve received funding from the Community Fund which has funded Cafe Leep and Leep1 and help us make it through pandemic.
Without that money we wouldn’t have survived the last 18 months. It provided laptops for staff so they could continue to work from home, subsidised staff wages which meant we had a full team to support our members. Your money also bought mobile devices and tablets for learning disabled adults so they could join in with our online activities and stay in touch with friends, reducing the mental health impact of being so isolated. We also set up new courses and projects like our LGBTQ+ training with ChangePeople.org.
During our time online we reached and supported over 400 online members who joined our Facebook group and our members acheived so much – such as gaining NVQ training in Food safety and moving into employment since we’ve been back. Since re-opening post lockdown we are thrilled to have lots of new members and trainees join our service and we continue to go from strength to strength.
Since the very first National Lottery draw in 1994, players of the national lottery have helped fund more than 635,000 projects, raising more than £43 billion for good causes.
Leep1 would like to say thank you to National Lottery players for changing the lives of adults with learning disabilties in Leeds through the work we do at Leep1 and Cafe Leep.
Thank you.
