VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
We are excited to announce that we are currently developing lots of new volunteering roles at Leep1. These roles include:
Podcast Support Volunteer
The Podcast Support Volunteer’s purpose it to help one of Leep1’s member’s to create monthly podcasts with useful information on topics of their choice.
Susan Hanley is our co-chair at Leep1 and a woman with Down’s Syndrome. With five years in this role, Susan has played an important part in leading improvements, challenging prejudices and getting the voice of people with learning disabilities heard. This role would be instrumental in supporting Susan discuss important issues and topics.
Cafe Leep Volunteer
Café Leep is our community café that trains adults with learning disabilities to work towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 1 and 2 in food safety. The café trainees are trained to get them work ready, so they are able to go straight into employment or a work placement.
This helps staff run the cafe by preparing food, serving customers and supporting our trainees to practice catering and food safety skills.
Leep1 Research and Admin Volunteer
Leep1 means Leeds People First and is run by our members. It is a self-advocacy group for adults with learning disabilities speaking up for themselves. We talk about things that matter to us such as: news, transport, grants for money, benefits, health, hate and mate crime and campaigning.
The role would include: Inputting data, researching potential opportunities and community websites. It also involves supporting the Deputy and Manager with admin duties.
